1. Honey – Starting with our personal favourite, honey has been used for years in households to soothe and to reduce the pain of burns. Due to the antimicrobial properties of the unpasteurised product, honey can help to eliminate potential infections and also reduce the burning sensation. Simply take a small swab of cotton, dip it into a teaspoon of honey and massage the burned area gently. For more severe burns, repeat daily until the wound heals- and thanks to the honey, you don’t have to worry about scarring either! If honey isn’t in your cupboard, take a look at our selection or take a look at our other home remedies for burns below.
2. Aloe Vera – Not just a pretty plant on your conservatory table, aloe vera can be used to help treat first-degree burns. The gel from the plant’s leaves helps to promote circulation around the burn, minimising bacteria growth and reducing the chance of further infection. The anti-inflammatory properties also help with limiting the soreness, so you can continue your daily activities. For best results, apply a layer of pure aloe-vera gel to the infected area and rub in slightly.
3. Apple Cider Vinegar – Another product with absolutely unlimited potential for healing small cuts and wounds, vinegar contains acetic acid which can help to relieve itching pain and inflammation on the burn. Take a small cotton swab dipped in the liquid and dab gently on the burn for this effect. Vinegar helps to draw heat from burns naturally, further dulling the pain. And as a bonus, the astringent properties will prevent further bacterial infection.
Remember that these t3 home remedies for burns are only for minor burns – if it is more severe then go straight to your nearest hospital. It’s better to be safe than sorry. But if you do have a minor accident, then don’t worry or fret, as the above three remedies will all set you right as soon as possible with a natural cure!
